[Just so you know, I made it so that the students have to wait outside until a certain time before they can go into the school, like it is at my school. Akatsuki gets there extra early so they can socialize.]

Eight people stood in a straight line outside the large high school building. They wore matching, high collared leather jackets. There was an insignia of a red cloud on all their backs.

“Welcome to high school boys,” a female with blue hair said, looking down the line of guys.

A blonde was swaying his hips to the low sound of music coming from the one blue ear bud he had in his ear. “I can’t wait, un,” he said happily, grabbing a hold of the hand of the red-head beside him to force him to dance along with him.

“Get off me, Brat!” Sasori scolded, pulling away violently. Deidara pouted at him.

“Please dance with me, Danna,” the blonde begged, inwardly patting himself on the back for not saying “un”.

“No.” The red-head stalked away and sat on the steps in front of the school. Konan rubbed Deidara’s shoulder.

“I’ll dance with you, Dei,” she offered. He smiled meekly at her.

“I appreciate that, Konan, but I just wish that things could be right between me and Sasori again, un.” He winced. “Gotta stop saying that!” he growled to himself.

A car door slammed and Itachi walked up to the group. “What happened between Deidara and Sasori?” he asked Zetsu, being as the odd being always seemed to know everything about the latest gossip and was 99.99% of the time right.

“I think you should talk to Dei about that. I don’t want him mad at me for telling you something he doesn’t want you to know yet..” Zetsu shrugged. “Sorry.”

“No, it’s okay, I understand,” he smiled at the blonde when he turned and looked at him.

“ITACHI!!!” Deidara yelled happily, promptly glomping the raven-haired heart-throb.

“Hello, Dei…” Itachi said, surprised at Deidara’s emotional greeting. “How was your summer?”

“Uhm, it kinda sucked hippos... But I have cut the amount of times I say ’un’ down at least twenty-five percent! That’s about the only good thing, un.” The blonde broke off to glare. “I said it again!” he whined.

“What was so bad about your summer?”

“So how was your summer?” Deidara asked as if he hadn’t heard the question directed at him.

“A little boring… I pretty much baby-sat Sasuke and Tobi. They should never had been at a water resort. That was horrible. Tobi almost drowned in  the wave pool, so Sasuke jumped in to ‘save’ him, but almost drowned himself. I think my vacation started when we got back home.”

Kisame laughed. “Where were you when they almost drowned?” he asked.

Itachi rolled his eyes. “Getting Tobi an ice cream that he begged me to get for at least two hours.” This statement was met with roaring laughter from the blue teen and chuckles from the others.

“Hey, Itachi, Deidara has something he needs to tell you,” Pein said, looking straight into Deidara’s visible eye.

“Not now,” Deidara growled. Pein raised an eyebrow.

“Soon. Remember that we promised to keep nothing a secret from each other,” the orange-haired teen warned, raising a pierced eyebrow to punctuate his point. Deidara nodded and looked away, suddenly finding the brick work of the old school building very interesting.

“Whatever,” the elder sighed, walking away to stand with his girlfriend, leaving Itachi and Deidara alone together.

“What’s so bad you can’t tell me?” Itachi asked, slightly offended that the blonde didn’t seem to trust him.

“I said I’ll tell you later, okay, un?” Deidara snapped.

“Why not now, when we’re alone? Or even with the others around? Obviously they know!” Itachi snapped back, which he instantly regretted doing.

“Because I don’t need our friendship to end up like Sasori’s and mine, un.” Deidara whispered, not meeting the Uchiha’s eyes.

“I didn’t mean to snap at you, Dei. Wait until you’re ready to tell me.” Itachi apologized, rubbing Deidara’s shoulder. He met the blonde’s gaze when he looked over his shoulder at him.

“Uhm, I kinda actually do want to get it over with… uh…” Itachi waited patiently for Deidara to find the right words to express what he wanted to say. Or the guts, whichever he was trying to gather. “This is really awkward, uhm, I’m… kinda… uhm… gay?” he said it as though it were a question.

“Kinda?” Itachi questioned.

“Well, not kinda. Really. I just kinda needed a space filler, un.”

“Always the procrastinator,” Itachi teased, ruffling Deidara’s long bangs that had grown all the way back and some. Deidara smiled.

“So you don’t care, un?”

“How does the fact that you’re gay change the fact that you’re the awesomest person I know?” Itachi rebutted.

Deidara smiled. “You rock, Itachi.”

“I know. So what’s wrong with you and Sasori?”

“I’m gay, un.” The blonde chocked out. Itachi silently hugged his upset friend.

“OHMIGOD! F*g moment!” A female voice yelled across the entire parking lot. Itachi immediately recognized the annoying tone as Ikeike’s.

“I’m gonna hit her before the year is over,” Itachi and Deidara said at the same time.

“Are you gay Itachi? That would be such a waste…” The annoying chick asked as she approached the pair, ignoring the glares from all the Akatsuki members, except Sasori who had disappeared somewhere.

“Uhm, yeah… I forgot to tell you that hanging around with you for eight years totally ruined my like for the female race, didn’t I?” Itachi responded, looking very sincere. Deidara sniggered.

Ikeike narrowed her perfectly lined eyes and glared at the both of them. “Then why would you date a guy that looks like a girl?” She retorted after about thirty seconds of thought.

Itachi smiled at her. “Because he has a heart. And he’s damn sexy.”

Deidara blushed behind Itachi’s back, adding to the illusion Itachi was painting.

“That’d be gross if you were telling the truth, but you did hang out with me for eight years, so I know when you’re lying.” Ikeike said, trying to keep her cool.

“Maybe you don’t know me as well as you think you do,” Itachi replied in a devious tone of voice. He turned and took Deidara’s hand to drag him away. “Time to go in, Dei.” He said as they went up the steps to enter the building.

“You two would make a cute couple.” Konan mused as they approached. Deidara hid his blush behind his bangs. Itachi just grinned at her. “Is there something I don’t know about here?!” she shrieked, eager to get personal yaoi.

“No, but if there ever is, I’ll let you know,” Itachi said, continuing to drag Deidara to the first period class they had together.
I was told I should make a pairing SasoDei, but I had this halfway typed at the time so... ItaDei.

Orochimaru will show up later... most likely next chapter... maybe... I'm thinking.

[Sorry it's so late, I thought I had submitted it last week, but apparently not.]

I don't own Naruto or the Akatsuki... and Hidan ran away... makes me sad... But I'm sure he'll be back... I switched his rosary with my peace sign necklace... :evillaugh:
